ZoeRoots is a ministry of holistic trauma compassion.
Those who experience severe poverty or are displaced through disaster or family seperation frequently experience life impacting trauma.
Those living in homeless or insecure situations are frequently subject to crime, violence and exploitation that inflict trauma.
Neglect and abandonment, institutional placement and abuse, all can cause unique forms of developmental trauma in children.
Those who live and serve in these situations experience their own traumatic events plus the secondary trauma of serving those who suffer.
ABOUT OUR FOUNDER
Prior to starting ZoeRoots, Tamara White spent over 20 years living in
and serving beloved inner-city communities in Chicago and Denver.
In addition to her personal experience in marginalized, and often violent communities, Tamara has degrees in theology, organizational management
and a masters degree in counseling psychology.
ZoeRoots is a small 501(c)3.
Currently Tamara takes no salary and volunteers her time. Other volunteers give time and fund their own travel and participation in Breathe Retreat, Family Preservation Symposium and other activities. Donations go entirely to the projects described in these pages.
ZoeRoots get a lot done on a tiny budget and volunteer hours.
